New UAE visas coming from next month onwards: All you need to know

A well-expanded Golden Visa scheme, multiple-entry tourist visa, the new five-year green residency, and job-hunting entry permits are some of the changes that will take effect from next month onwards. These visas and entry permits are included in the biggest entry and residency changes that are being adopted in the UAE.

The set of new rules will bring advantages to the expats living and working in the UAE and to the visitors as well. This will turn Emirates into an even more investor-friendly place for foreigners and individuals with high-net-worth looking to live in UAE for a long time.

The UAE Cabinet decision which was broadcasted in mid-April introduced new rules and regulations that were related to entry and residence laws that will come into action after 90 days of the date of its publication.

Following we have mentioned the list of visas that were broadcasted in April. Most of them will come into action from next month and a few of them have already been introduced:

Multi-entry tourist visa: The latest multi-entry tourist visa is for five years, does not need a sponsor, and enables the person to reside in UAE for up to 90 days. It can be stretched for another 90 days. A person can reside for a maximum of 180 days on this visa. There is one pre-requisite that the person should have a bank balance of Dh 14,700 or the same amount in foreign currencies in the last six months before applying.

Business visa:

Entrepreneurs and Investors can apply for a business visa without a sponsor.

Visa to visit relatives or friends:

A person can apply for this visa if he or she is a relative or a friend of a UAE citizen or a resident. This does not need a sponsor. Temporary work visa: Those people who have a short-term work assignment, like project-based work or probation testing, can use this visa. The pre-requisite for this visa is submitting a work contract or a letter from the employer and also proof of fitness.

Visa for studying/training:

This visa is made for people who want to join the training, courses, and internship programs. This visa has to be sponsored by either private or public sector education and research institutes. A very important pre-requisite is a letter from the institute that mentions the details of the study, training, or internship program and the time it will take to complete it.

Family visa:

Before, parents could be sponsors for their children under 18 years. Now male children can be sponsored till 25 years. Unmarried daughters can be sponsored for an indefinite time. Disabled children will get a special permit.

Job visa:

People who are looking for a job can use this visa to get a job in the UAE. This visa does not need a sponsor and will be given to bachelor’s degree holders or something equal to that, new graduates of the best 500 universities in the world which are divided into the first, second and third skill levels according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Green Visa:

This five-year visa enables the visa holders to bring their families without a sponsor. This visa can be given to self-employers, skilled workers, freelancers, etc. Another pre-requisite is a Bachelor’s degree or something similar and a minimum salary of Dh 15,000.

Golden Visas:

The UAE has brought about Golden Visa for a lot of professional categories and investors who want to enjoy the best lifestyle of the UAE on a long-term basis. Below we have mentioned a list of Golden Visas for different categories:

  1. Real estate: A basic investment of Dh 2 million in real estate is needed to be eligible for the visa. The investors buying real estate on mortgage and off-plan can also be considered if their total investment is Dh 2 million or more.
  2. Startups: Entrepreneurs can now get Golden Visa in three forms- 1) the Startup has to be registered in the country, 2) Must fall under SME, and 3) The revenue annually should be Dh 1 million or more.
  3. Scientists: People in this category can apply for Golden Visa if they meet the following requirements – a recommendation from Emirates Science Council and Ph.D. or Master’s degree from a good university in life science, technology, engineering, and natural sciences.
  4. Excellent talent:People who have excellent talent in the category of culture, art, sports, digital technology, medicine, innovation, and law can apply for Golden Visa. They need a recommendation letter or they must have approval from a government entity.
  5. Skilled workers: One needs to have a Bachelor’s degree, a contract of employment, a line of employment must be under the level one or two that is defined by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and a minimum monthly salary of Dh 30,000.
  6. Students: Excellent students who have got high scores in UAE secondary schools and universities or those who come under the best 100 universities worldwide can apply for Golden Visa.
